SPACE BEING: Studio building for artists of color

Who is it for:
- Artists, makers, tinkerers, and space beings of color
- Course welcomes those with an established practice, newly entering or reentering an art practice
- Priority will be given to those not enrolled in degree granting programs
Course Description:
This course aims to support BIPOC folks on the path to claiming rightful space for their creative practice.
The guiding question for this course is: how can we build a space that encourages intrinsic motivation, is expansive for one's imagination, and is structured in a way that creative impulses can be easily enacted and developed?
Course Details:
- 6 week online course, meets once a week for a max of 80 mins. Plus, two follow up meetings 3 and 6 months after the course term
- Tuition will be generously supported by donors of Artists' Literacy Institute
- Participants will receive a $200 micro grant towards their studio building efforts
What You Need To Succeed:
1. Space—ideally at least 25sq. ft, of temporary, semi-temporary, or permanent space that can be dedicated as a studio. This may include a mobile unit such as a vehicle or something else
2. Time to work independently on developing and testing ideas, and to attend regular class sessions
