Two Artists' Literacies Talks, and The Democratic Field 3!

It’s a very busy week for all things ALI! Two days ago I went to Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) to deliver a talk to students as part of the Environmental and Sustainability Sciences Colloquium (https://as.cornell.edu/news/art-and-science-provide-fertile-ground-research-teaching). It was so good to address a roomful of young scientists to talk about science and art’s deep relationship and the potential for collaboration that goes well beyond conventional methods of ‘instrumentalizing’ art.

On Tuesday Nov 12, I’ll be delivering a related talk at SVA’s MFA Fine Arts (http://www.sva.edu/events/events-exhibitions/andrew-freiband-on-the-artists-literacies-institute) - this one is open to the public, come on out and say hello if you’re in New York City!

And on Thursday Nov 14, Artists’ Literacies Institute, Verbatim Performance Lab, and the Centre for Social Innovation will be presenting The Democratic Field 3, the third edition of this experiment in civic intervention through art and research. Tickets are available now: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-democratic-field-3-tickets-77377270499 Come by and see how well you can separate policy from persona, and how well you know the roots of your own political preferences!
